Thanksgiving Facts
- The “first” Thanksgiving was a three-day event. It started in 1621 in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
- At the end of the first growing season, Pilgrims threw a harvest festival to celebrate for three days with wild birds and lots of food after their first harvest in new world. It was nothing but a celebration party and only thing they did “They ate and shot guns for fun.” As per historic record, 53 Pilgrims attended this first event and later, the New England colonists were accustomed to celebrate Thanksgiving as days of prayer thanking God for blessings and good fortune.
- President Lincoln was the first President to declare Thanksgiving a national holiday in 1863.
